Make Some Noise: New releases from Afroreggae and Jaguares as website goes multi-lingual
On Tuesday 21 February Brazilian band Afroreggae and Mexican act Jaguares will be releasing tracks for Make Some Noise, Amnesty International's global initiative that uses the music of John Lennon to inspire a new generation to celebrate and stand up for human rights.
Versions of the Make Some Noisewebsite, www.amnesty.org/noise, will be launching in French, German and Spanish on the same day. Further languages will become available in due course.
Afroreggae has recorded its version of the John Lennon classic 'Imagine'. Afroreggae is well known for its work with police and residents in favelas (shanty towns), and is due to open the Rolling Stones concert in Copacabana this month.
Jaguares will perform its take on Lennon's 'Give Me Some Truth' in Spanish. The multi-platinum rock band played a benefit concert in December 2004 in support of Amnesty International's campaign to stop violence against women, highlighting the killing of women and girls in the Mexican border city of Juarez.
All Make Some Noise tracks can be downloaded from www.amnesty.org/noise.
For more information and photos of Afroreggae and Jaguares, please contact Saria Rees-Roberts at sreesrob@amnesty.org.
Single downloads will be available at US$ 0.99 per single and at equivalent prices in other currencies from www.amnesty.org/noise
All monies will go towards Amnesty International’s human rights work.
