Egypt: Amnesty International Secretary General's visit to Cairo

Amnesty International Secretary General Irene Khan will visit Cairo on Tuesday 12 September to meet the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Amre Moussa.

During her visit, the first for any Amnesty Secretary General to the League of Arab States, she will discuss the human rights situation in Darfur/Eastern Chad (from where an AI mission has just recently returned) as well as the situation in Lebanon. She will also raise the need for Arab States to play an active role in the promotion of human rights.
