Yemen: Visit of an Amnesty International delegation

An Amnesty International delegation led by Susan Waltz, former chair of AI's International Executive Committee, has begun a mission to Yemen. The delegation which includes Lamri Chirouf, and Jerome Bellion-Jourdan, researchers in the Middle East Program, will be in Yemen until 2 September.

When they meet the Yemeni authorities, the delegates will discuss issues relating to the backlash following the events of 11 September 2001, as well as the promotion and protection of human rights in Yemen.

The delegation will be meeting representatives of the civil society, organizations, and the media.
