Madagascar: Urgent need for justice: Human rights violations during the political crisis

Serious human rights violations were committed in Madagascar throughout 2009, in a climate of political tension that culminated in a coup in March. This report examines the human rights situation in Madagascar and gives examples of human rights violations committed during this long-running political crisis. Amnesty International calls on the political leaders of Madagascar to set up an impartial and independent body to investigate cases of human rights violations committed during this period, including by the security forces.
