Mali: Widespread human rights abuses in the wake of the military coup: Amnesty International Submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review

In this submission Amnesty International comments on the implementation of recommendations made during Mali’s previous UPR. The organization is concerned about the lack of progress on issues related to violence against women, the death penalty, and cooperation with UN human rights mechanisms. Amnesty International notes the rapidly deteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in Mali as a result of the rebel takeover of much of the country’s territory. The organization expresses its concern about a wide range of violations of human rights and breaches of international humanitarian law.
