In this open letter, Amnesty International writes in response to the report "Communication to the Honourable House of Assembly On the Investigation of Allegations of Abuse and Inhumane Conditions at the Detention Centre at Carmichael Rd". In the light of this report's findings, and other long-standing concerns, the Organisation urges the Bahamian Governemnt to establish an independent inquiry into conditions of detention for asylum-seekers and other migrants in the Bahamas in the Carmichael Detention Centre.
