In this briefing paper, which presents the nature of violations and key areas of concern, Amnesty International is calling on the Russian federal and Chechen authorities to put a stop to the continuing enforced disappearances and address impunity for the violations. The failure over several years to investigate effectively and prosecute crimes against humanity such as enforced disappearances leaves little doubt that these acts have been committed with the acquiescence of state authorities.
