Turkmenistan: Submission to the UN Human Rights Committee – 104th session of the Human Rights Committee, 12-30 march 2012

Amnesty International is submitting this brief summary of its main concerns about the key human rights challenges currently persisting in Turkmenistan. The organization is particularly concerned that Turkmenistan remains closed to international scrutiny. No independent international organization has been granted access to carry out research or monitoring. These concerns include torture and other ill-treatment; enforced disappearances; freedom of movement and the right to privacy; freedom of religion and belief; freedoms of expression, assembly and association.
