Amnesty International's contribution to the Global Forum on Migration and Development, Brussels 10 - 11 July 2007

Amnesty International welcomes the first Global Forum on Migration and Development, being held in Brussels on 10-11 July. AI has actively worked on international migration and development for some years, and welcomes the opportunity to further contribute to this important international dialogue. However AI notes with disappointment the absence of human rights principles and standards on the agenda of the Global Forum. AI holds that, by virtue of their humanity, migrants are entitled to protection of their human rights.
