Win tickets to see Arch Enemy at their London gig on 6 December!
Amnesty International supporters Arch Enemy are adding their voice to campaign on the case of youth activist Jabbar Savalan in Azerbaijan, who is being persecuted by the Azerbaijani authorities because of messages he posted on Facebook.
Amnesty considers him to be a prisoner of conscience. Jabbar, 20, was sentenced on 4 May 2011 to two and a half years in prison on drugs charges. We believe the charges are fabricated and that the real reason for the conviction was to punish him for peacefully exercising his right to freedom of expression after calling for protests against the Government.
After the trial, Jabbar's lawyer, Anar Gasimov, was threatened by a police officer.
Join us in taking action on Jabbar's case - write a letter to the President of Azerbaijan. Go to www.amnesty.org.uk/jabbar. Once you've done so, share his case on Facebook or Twitter then simply e-mail us with your name, address and phone number to: artforamnesty@amnesty.org.uk and we will enter you into the competition to win a pair of tickets to see Arch Enemy at the Shepherd's Bush Empire on 6 December.
Closing date: Friday 2 December at 5pm.
