Deborah L Smith

Deborah joined Amnesty International's youth programme as a teenager. Since then she has served the movement as a fieldworker, refugee caseworker, board member (1998-2002), president of Amnesty International Canada-E (2002-2004) and chair of the Chairs Forum (2005-2006). She remains involved in local activism in Ottawa, Canada. She is trained as a journalist and lawyer and currently works as a consultant to non-profit organizations. Her other volunteer passion is her work as a Red Cross disaster responder. She was elected to the IEC in August 2007.
