Working in our International Mobilization Programme (IMP), you'll play a key role in the Organisational Development Support for AI membership entities worldwide. You'll assist in catalyzing the mobilization of people for human rights impact, promote growth in activism and diversity, and contribute to capacity building initiatives internally and with NGOs.

You will speak Arabic and have significant and demonstrated skills in organisational development theory and practice, identifying and mobilizing resources and strategic planning.

Job Description

Job Title: International Mobilization Co-ordiantor

Reports to: Deputy Programme Director    

Responsible for: Interns, volunteers, temporary staff and fixed term contract staff        

Job Purpose:   

Manage the international movement support to all AI membership bodies (sections, structures and groups) from a perspective of organizational development theory and practice.  Coordinate and facilitate the interface of sections, structures or groups with the International Secretariat.  Participate actively in the ongoing design and implementation of the new International Mobilization Programme.

Primay Tasks: 

  1. Participate actively in the ongoing design and implementation of the new International Mobilization Programme
  2. Provide a high standard of professional support and ensure best practice application of organizational development theory and practice to all AI sections, structures and groups
  3. Contribute to the design and implementation of the protocols and procedures of the Mobilization Support Unit
  4. Provide briefings, strategic advice and reports regarding the development of sections, structures and groups as appropriate, in consultation with colleagues as needed
  5. Liaise on behalf of the IS with sections, structures and groups, as their primary contact
  6. Represent the Secretary General as needed in the joint agreements between sections, structures and groups and the Secretary General
  7. Maintain oversight of the work of different IS programmes, partner sections and others in relation to each section, structure or group, coordinating regular exchanges of information
  8. Participate in and contribute to the regional mobilization discussions, including the development of regional growth, County Action Programmes and Global Impact Goal strategies as appropriate
  9. Manage or participate in regional projects as assigned (e.g. the arrangement of a regional capacity building project)
  10. Contribute to the development of standard materials and provide information and materials as appropriate, in consultation with colleagues as needed
  11. Keep abreast of developments in organizational development theory and practice and make appropriate recommendations in order to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the movement.
  12. Provide cover for other Coordinators on the team as needed to ensure constant coverage in relations to sections, structures and groups
  13. Other tasks as assigned according to the grade and nature of the post.

Person Specification

Knowledge of theory and practical experience in organizational development

  • Able to demonstrate previous experience of organizational development theory and best practice in multinational settings.
  • Experience of finding and mobilizing resources to support an organization’s organizational development.
  • Experience of distance managing support from various sources.
  • Being sensitive to the needs, opportunities and constraints of a worldwide membership organization.

Holidays                          Full time staff receive 27 days per annum plus one Amnesty International grace

                                           day and statutory and national public holidays .

Office hours                   09.30 - 17.30 or 10.00 - 18.00 by arrangement 

Relocation                      Relocation assistance will be available for staff members (and their dependents)

                                           recruited from over 80 km/50 miles from the International Secretariat office in

                                           which the post is based.

Life insurance                4 x gross salary  

Travel loan                      Interest free travel loan for bus, underground, or rail travel to work (no qualifying

                                           period)

Pension                            You are encouraged to join the Amnesty International Superannuation

                                            Scheme.  This is a defined contribution to which Amnesty International

                                            contributes 6% of gross salary.
