Further information on UA 184/97 (AFR 01/11/97, 20 June 1997) and follow-up (AFR 01/13/97, 19 August 1997) - “Disappearance”

Amnesty International has been informed that Agnes Ntamabyaliro Rutagwera has been found in Rwanda, where she is currently detained in the central prison in the capital Kigali. It is not known whether she has been formally charged.

Amnesty International is seeking further information on the circumstances in which she was abducted and taken from Zambia to Rwanda. There are unconfirmed reports that she may have been brought to Kigali as early as 31 May 1997.

No further action by the UA Network is requested at this time.
