Albert MOUNGONDO

CONGO (Brazzaville)

Theme: Detention without charge or trial

In February 1998 Amnesty International issued an appeal for Albert Moungondo who had been arrested in November 1997 in the wake of a civil war which brought a change of government to the country. He is a member of an opposition party and was accused of giving shelter to a minister in the former government who had been arrested the previous day.

Albert Moungondo was released on 5 April 1998, as was Jacques Mpassi, the politician he had been accused of sheltering.

No further action is required.

Thank you to those who appealed on his behalf.
