Brazil: "A Waste of Lives -- FEBEM juvenile detention centres, São Paulo"

A new Amnesty International report examining the current crisis in São Paulo's juvenile detention system, FEBEM, will be launched at a press briefing in London on Wednesday 12 July.

The report evaluates the authorities' response to the human rights violations at the root of the crisis, and, ten years after the launch of Brazil's much-feted Statute of the Child and Adolescent, undertakes a critical assessment of the application of this progressive legislation to young offenders.
