Amnesty International has been informed that the above 23 Haitians and one unnamed child were released in January 1992 from a church in the Dominican town of Dajabón, situated near the Haitian border. The church had reportedly been surrounded by the military and members of the Servicio Secreto, Secret Service, since early November 1991.

According to reports, 15 of the detainees returned to Haiti voluntarily. The other eight have been granted refugee status in the Dominican Republic.

No further appeals are necessary. Thank you to all those who sent appeals.
