An earlier report that Laver Goga received a presidential pardon which commuted his death sentence to life imprisonment has been confirmed by a recent press report. According to this report, Laver Goga has been on hunger-strike for three days, demanding to be transferred from "the cell to prison". This probably means that he is still detained in the section of Tirana prison where people are held pending trial and confirmation of their sentences, and where conditions appear to be worse than in prisons where convicted prisoners serve their sentences.
