The five men named above, who had been convicted of murder, were executed on 28 March. Relatives of their victims were reportedly present at the execution.


They had been sentenced to death in November 2000. Under Omani law they were not allowed to appeal.


Seven executions have now been recorded in Oman so far this year. Before these, the last executions recorded by Amnesty International were in 1998, when at least six people convicted of murder were put to death.


No further action is requested from the UA network. Many thanks to all who sent appeals.
