YEMEN Muhammad Ahmed Abdullah al-Sha'wi (m)
Amnesty International has learnt that Muhammad Ahmed Abdullah al-Sha'wi was released without charge or trial on the evening of 28 October 2007.
Muhammad Ahmed Abdullah al-Sha'wiwas reportedly arrested at the airport in the capital, Sana’a, by officers from the National Security forces on 12 October. He was detained incommunicado from the date of his arrest until he was released, in violation of national and international law.
He was reported to have written articles for the weekly newspaper Attariq, based in the city of Aden, in which he criticized the authorities in Yemen.
No further action is required from the UA Network. Many thanks to all those who sent appeals
