Three decades after the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (the Convention against Torture), the practice of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment (other ill-treatment) persists across the globe. Amnesty International’s global research combined with more than five decades of experience of documenting and campaigning against torture and other ill-treatment, reveals that, 30 years after the UN Convention against Torture, impunity for torture remains widespread.
