Angola: Amnesty International Submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review, October 2014

In this submission, Amnesty International evaluates the implementation of previous recommendations and urges the government of Angola to act on key institutional and human rights concerns. Amnesty International notes with regret that human rights violations continue to be perpetrated by police and security forces. Forced evictions persist; those forcibly evicted are left without shelter, access to drinking water or sanitation, and are at risk of further evictions. During the period since the previous review, the suppression of the freedoms of association, assembly, expression and press has intensified.
