Amnesty International’s briefing on the human rights situation in the Central African Republic

Amnesty International is deeply concerned about reports of continuing widespread and serious human rights violations in the Central African Republic (CAR) since Seleka, a coalition of armed groups, seized power in a coup on 24 March 2013. Scores of civilians have been killed, others have been tortured, women and girls have been raped, children have continued to be recruited as soldiers, and tens of thousands of civilians have been displaced. Amnesty International urges the CAR authorities to do all in their power to end the human rights and humanitarian crises.
