Chad: A compromised future: Children recruited by armed forces and groups in eastern Chad

Children in Chad are still being used by the Chadian army and Sudanese and Chadian armed groups. Thousands have joined up in recent years as the Darfur conflict over the border in Sudan has engulfed eastern Chad. Some children have been forcibly recruited. Others are urged by their communities to avenge killings and pillage by armed groups. Amnesty International is calling on the Chadian and Sudanese governments, Chadian and Sudanese armed groups, and the international community, including the UN, to do more to protect the rights of children in eastern Chad.
