Amnesty International is submitting this information for consideration by the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (the CEDAW) in advance of its examination of Kenya’s seventh periodic report. This briefing focuses on issues relating to violence against women and how, for women living in Kenyan slums and informal settlements, such violence is exacerbated by the lack of adequate access to sanitation facilities for toilets and bathing.
