This document is a public version of Amnesty International’s submission in March 2011 to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights which highlighted some of the organisation’s human rights concerns in Swaziland. Amnesty International raised concerns about gaps and limitations in the normative and institutional framework of the state, before proceeding to highlight concerns and cases in the following three areas of human rights promotion and protection: the rights of women; fundamental freedoms; and, the right to life and the right to physical integrity.
