In Uganda, violence against women and girls remains widespread in most parts of the country. An estimated two thirds of Ugandan homes have been the site of domestic violence. The path of victims' access to justice is strewn with obstacles, including inadequate or dismissive responses by police, medical and judicial personnel. In this document Amnesty International is calling upon the Ugandan authorities to improve their efforts to protect the rights of women to lead a life free of violence.
