Kanefu, Arony and Rugota, three businessmen from Uvira, were arrested on 7 July 1998. They are reportedly being beaten and have been denied access to a lawyer, doctor or their families. Their arrest is thought to be related do a delegation they led to the govenor of South Kivu province
