This document details the massive human rights violations committed against unarmed civilian populations in the DRC by the forces involved in armed conflict, particularly the Forces Armees Congolaises (FAC) and the Rassemblement Congolais pour la Democratie (RCD). There has been an escalation in mass killings, 'disappearances' , torture, arbitrary arrests and detentions. Amnesty international is particularly concerned with the increasing use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. The organization urges the main protagonists and the foreign governments that have supported them to take immediate action to end these abuses
