Juan Diaz Ulerio, a peasant from Mate de Palma, Guerra, was allegedly severely beaten by police officers on 21 July, when they attempted to evacuate peasants from disputed plots of land without a warrant. A tradesman who claims the land is his, and was accompanying the police, allegedly drenched him in gasoline and set him alight. Juan Diaz Ulerio received third degree burns and is now being treated in hospital.
