Honduras: Justice fails indigenous people

Abuses against indigenous peoples in Honduras and the failure to investigate them and bring those responsible to justice have been a matter of concern for Amnesty International for many years. This document looks at cases where indigenous activists have been killed, either by armed groups or individuals, because of their efforts to secure recognition of their communities’ land and indigenous rights. Their safety is further threatened by recent attempts to amend the constitution by removing a prohibition against non-Hondurans purchasing land.
