Omar Deghayes grew up and studied in the UK after his family fled from Libya. In 2001 he travelled to Malaysia, Pakistan and Afghanistan where he married and had a son. After September 2001, he fled with his family to Pakistan, planned to return to the UK but was arrested there in 2002, transferred to American custody and to Guantánamo Bay. A Combatant Status Review Tribunal determined that he was an "enemy combatant". Action is called for so that allegations of torture can be investigated and for the detainees to be given full and fair trials or released.
