USA: ‘Heads I win, tails you lose’. Government set to pursue death penalty at Guantánamo trial, but argues acquittal can still mean life in detention

The US administration has selected six detainees, from among the 171 men still held at Guantánamo, who it wants to see executed. The government aims to deprive him of his life after a military trial, but is keeping its options open, however, in case ‘Abd al-Nashiri is acquitted.
