In this submission, Amnesty International assesses the implementation of a number of recommendations that China supported during its previous UPR in 2009. The organization also sets out its concerns regarding the human rights situation on the ground, including abuses within the criminal justice system, arbitrary detention and enforced disappearances, the use of torture in detention, criminalization of freedom of expression, the persecution of religious groups, human rights violations against ethnic minorities, and forced evictions.
