India: continuing reports of extrajudicial executions in Kashmir: Bilal Ahmed

Police reported that on 1 August 1993, members of the Border Security Force searching for militants who had wounded a colleague, burst into a house and opened fire, killing Bilal Ahmed, aged 10. They then shot dead his parents. On 2 August a demonstration against the deaths was held in Srinagar, despite a curfew, and the paramilitary opened fire when the crowd became violent and set fire to a government building. One person was killed. On 3 August another more peaceful demonstration was held, but again the Border Security Force opened fire, killing two people.
