In this document Amnesty International calls on all members of Japan's Diet to support the government's progress towards acceding to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (Rome Statute) in 2007. The government has indicated that the issue of accession, as well as necessary legislation, will be submitted to the Diet in the near future its approval. Parliamentary support is therefore vital for Japan to join the new system of international justice.
