North Korea: The international community has given insufficient attention to flagrant human rights violations in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea for too long: Amnesty International oral statement to the UN Human Rights Council

In this statement Amnesty International expresses concerns about human rights violations in the political prison camps including extrajudicial executions and torture and other ill treatment, including forced labour. Other concerns raised included severe restrictions on freedom of expression, assembly and movement, and enforced disappearances. With the devastating findings of the Commission of Inquiry before them, UN member states must now ensure that human rights are central to all activities involving the DPRK.
