This report examines Pakistan's Juvenile Justice System Ordinance (JJSO) as part of its effort to fulfil obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, to protect the rights of children who come into conflict with the law. It has been found that at each stage of arrest, trial and imprisonment there was wide-scale failure to implement the provisions of the JJSO. This report also describes the circumstances in which such neglect takes place and the difficulties faced by young people following their detention.
