AI is concerned about arrests of Buddhists, monks and lay-persons, in Viet Nam since the end of October 1994. Others have been called in for questioning more than once. The arrests and the events leading up to them are described in this paper. AI believes that they are evidence of continuing repression of Buddhists and stand in flagrant contradiction to the Vietnamese Government’s assertion of freedom of religion.
