Concerns in Europe: May 1992 – October 1992

This report describes AI’s human rights concerns in 39 countries in Europe (East and West) during the six months from May to October 1992. The issues described include: the use of the death penalty, imprisonment of conscientious objectors, allegations of ill-treatment and torture by security forces, human rights violations in the context of armed conflicts, violations against members of ethnic groups, such as gypsies and against immigrants, political killings, prisoners of conscience, and the treatment of asylum-seekers. A list of countries which have ratified human rights agreements during the period covered by the report is provided.
