People with mental disabilities in Bulgaria suffer serious violations of their human rights and discrimination because of their disabilities. Research by Amnesty International in hospitals and social care homes in Bulgaria has uncovered arbitrary detention, ill-treatment and other cruel inhuman and degrading treatment of people with mental health disorders or developmental disabilities. This report concludes with recommendations to the Bulgarian authorities that should be implemented without delay.
