Salih Askerogul, a Cypriot from the Turkish zone, was taken into custody on 27 September 1993 for refusing to do his military service on grounds of conscientious objection. He is currently held in Lefkosa Prison, and will be brought before the Security Forces Military Court in Lefkosa on 15 October. He is a prisoner of conscience.
