France: Briefing to the UN Committee against Torture, April 2010

This briefing was submitted for consideration by the Committee Against Torture at its examination of France’s sixth periodic report on its implementation of the Convention Against Torture. Amnesty’s main concerns are cases of torture by police and the lack of adequate investigation into complaints of torture; the subsequent reprisals against complainants and witnesses; and the forcible transfer of individuals to countries where they are at risk of torture.
