Ireland: Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children regarding the Report of the Expert Group on the Judgment in A, B and C v Ireland

In this submission, Amnesty International urges the Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children to take the opportunity presented by its deliberations on the Expert Group Report’s recommendations to ensure that Irish law and policy on abortion is in line with Ireland’s international human rights obligations to women and girls. At a minimum, Ireland must decriminalize abortion in all circumstances. Any such reforms must ensure that safe abortion is accessible in practice without unreasonable restrictions.
