Italy: The alleged ill-treatment of Romanian national, Arsenie Cretu, by Milan police

Arsenie Cretu, a 31-year-old Romanian national, who was arrested by Milan police on the night of 25/26 May 1993, has alleged that he was beaten and ill-treated during his arrest and later at the police station. The judge of the preliminary investigation recorded his statement on 29 May 1993, and noted visible bruises and signs of injury on his thorax, abdomen and back. On his admission to San Vittore prison, Milan, on 27 May 1994, a doctor also recorded various injuries to his body.
