Unofficial sources report that Valery Parshin was sentenced to death on 1 August 1990, place unknown. He had apparently attempted to break out of a corrective labour colony where he had been serving a nine-and-a-half year sentence. The sentence was reportedly upheld on 25 February 1992. The case is reported to be due for consideration by the clemency committee attached to the office of the Russian President.
