The Russian authorities have an obligation to respect, protect, ensure and promote fundamental human rights. Amnesty International is calling on the authorities to live up to their obligations under national and international human rights and humanitarian law and to take concrete steps to prevent future abuses and to ensure effective redress and reparations for violations which have occurred in the past.
