Russian Federation (Chechen Republic): Open letter to the United Nations from the Secretary General of Amnesty International

In this letter the Secretary General of Amnesty International urges the United Nations to ensure more urgent and sustained international action in response to the developing crisis in Chechnya. It gives details of how the continuing bombing by the Russian military has resulted in civilian casualties and has created thousands of refugees who have been forced to flee their homes. Chechens living in Moscow and other big cities are being targeted for persecution by law enforcement officials several cases are cited of Chechens who have been abused by police.
