This submission considers the existing safeguards against torture in the Russian legal system, their shortcomings, as well as some of the methods used by law enforcement officials to circumvent these safeguards, and some key features of the criminal justice proceedings which do not allow the effective implementation on the ban on the exclusion of evidence obtained under torture from criminal trials.
