Uzbekistan: Submission to the United Nations Committee Against Torture: 51st session of the United Nations Committee Against Torture (28 October – 22 November 2013)

Amnesty International submits this briefing to the United Nations Committee against Torture ahead of its examination of Uzbekistan’s report on the implementation of the UN Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. In particular, Amnesty International is concerned about torture and other ill-treatment during detention; incommunicado detention; arbitrary extension of length of imprisonment; ill-treatment of individuals returned to Uzbekistan from other countries; allegations of abductions and renditions; and failure to thoroughly investigate allegations torture and other ill-treatment, resulting in impunity.
