Croatia: Briefing to the United Nations Committee against Torture

This briefing outlines Amnesty International’s concerns about the failure of the Croatian authorities to take adequate measures to implement some of the provisions of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (hereafter, the Convention) and some of the recommendations made by the Committee against Torture following its examination of Croatia’s third periodic report in May 2004. Amnesty International considers that these failures have resulted in ongoing violations of the rights of individuals which are guaranteed under the Convention.
